Social Welfare Project

Since its establishment on July 3, 1986, the Shimmyung Cultural Foundation has faithfully followed the vision of its late founder and first chairman, Mr. Lee Joon-gu. For over 35 years, the foundation has been awarding scholarships to outstanding students facing financial hardship, helping them focus on their studies.

Our scholarship program is designed to support gifted students in overcoming economic challenges, enabling them to complete their education and eventually contribute to society across various fields.

In addition to scholarships, the foundation engages in a wide range of philanthropic efforts, including direct aid to those unable to support themselves, tuberculosis eradication, medical aid, and support for cultural and athletic development.

  • Tuberculosis treatment support & medical aid (Suncheon TB Rehabilitation Center, St. Mary’s Welfare Hospital)
  • Regular aid to 40 households in Changsin-dong and Sungin-dong
  • Participation in Habitat for Humanity projects
  • Support for North Korean defectors (resettlement aid)
  • “Sharing Bread of Love” program with Shinmangae Orphanage
  • “Sharing Lunchbox of Love” with World Vision
  • Support to Jongno District Office: kimchi-sharing program, underprivileged children aid, multicultural family assistance
  • Support for facilities for single mothers (e.g., Didimdol)
  • Aid for homeless rehabilitation centers (e.g., Suseong Bohyeon House)
  • Support for elderly care homes and nursing facilities
  • Sponsorship for children in Nepal
